How does pricing work?

There is an hourly charge at four levels for different types of projects.

  • The lowest price level is approved account status and comes with a net 30 payment option. This price is given for basic repeat contracts or periodical work.
  • The second level price is for repeat accounts on a non-regular basis and first-time contract seekers.
  • The third level is for short deadline vs. workload projects, any overtime requirements and priority services.
  • The fourth and highest level is for projects requiring large scale reproduction (in excess of 100,000) and the subsequently increased liability insurance.

Every project has different requirements / additional expenses so this is added to the rate. What is most important to us, is that we achieve the goal you come to us with, within your budget.

What’s with the name, Factory Edge Design?

Everything on the white background, surrounding this web page is the bleed, it contains registration and crop marks. The crop marks indicate on a print where the guillotine should line up to make a clean-cut edge on a batch of prints. Providing and preserving this factory edge, on products in general, has long been a hallmark of quality production and craftsmanship.

Lastly, the name is a nod to the owner’s past. Mike grew up on the edge of Tuam in County Galway. Historically, Tuam was a factory town, as it housed one of the three sugar factories in the country. The factory was regrettably shut, devastating the local economy, and adding to the town’s identity, as these things do.

Do I actually need an identity design?

The most common issue to arise at the outset of projects for new businesses or organisations is whether a print/website or an identity with a print/website is needed. If you have an established identity (logo files, colour scheme, type scheme), then you can just go ahead and get cracking. If you don’t have an established identity and the job requires one, this would be treated as a seperate project.
