Michael D. Higgins – President of Ireland.

Well, it’s been a long time since I posted a news update. The reason for the silence is how busy I’ve been since May, when I started working with the Michael D. Higgins campaign for the Irish Labour Party nomination of president and the entirety of the subsequent Presidential Campaign.

I’ve known Michael D. for a number of years now and was fortunate enough to receive his advice upon starting Factory Edge Design and striking out on my own. Both personally and politically I am honoured to have become associated with his bid for the presidency of Ireland. He deserves to win for his genuine honesty, integrity and selflessness.

I’d like to thank those in the campaign for being so generous, trusting and welcoming to a new hand on deck and congratulate them on a fun, hardworking and honourable campaign. My congratulations to the man himself and his family, the unstoppable Sabina, his incredibly resilient campaign leader and daughter Alice-Mary, and his sons, my friends, John, Michael and Daniel.

Next stop, the Áras, for the Irish legend that is Michael D. Higgins.

Congrats to the ralphs

On their wonderful write-up in The Tuam Herald. Great to see strong local music and artists getting support from their local paper. Delighted to be involved in the cover design for the E.P., it’s my personal hope that these lads go all the way. Between their coverage in the press and their recent appearance on TG4, the lads are riding high, and long may it continue.

Here’s the article on the lad’s facebook.

Remake/Remodel for Freakangels Forum

Based on a brief given by Warren Ellis for his Whitechapel Forum.

Didn’t have a whole lot of time to put into this one. It’s a little play on the IT crowd, as I couldn’t get it out of my head that the subject would have been driven a bit mental by his alien colleagues. The brief is on the first page of comments. This one combines a bit of graphic design and a bit of illustration.

Marion Choral Society presents Titanic

Congratulations

As a patron of the show, I went to see it last night in St. Jarlath’s College, Tuam. What a production! Amazing set design by Eugene Finnegan, morphing seemlessly between the Grand Salon, the 1st Class, 2nd Class and 3rd Class Decks and Dorms, the Bridge of the Titanic and the Dock – and yes even an underwater Titanic.

The graphic design, by our colleagues at the Tuam Herald, was a fascinating play on the documentation of local Titanic passenger Andy Keane. The performances were all amazing with an inspiring mix of the old guard such as Declan Carroll, John Mulrooney, Frank Holliman, – and the new with Emer Kelly, Shane Kelly and Jonathan Walsh. The music was fantastic as always. The front of house were so friendly and helpful. Looking forward to their next production already. I was told the St. Jarlath’s Hall, which is possibly the least comfortable place to watch a show, was still full every night and deservedly so after the effort and the execution that was brought to the fore. Well done.
